Key Responsibilities:
- Create and implement strategic plans to reach company growth goals, focusing on customer acquisition, market expansion, and revenue generation. Conduct market research to identify industry trends, new market opportunities, and competitive dynamics to inform business strategies. Actively seek new business opportunities through market research, competitor analysis, and customer insights.
- Identify, negotiate, and establish partnerships with companies that can drive mutual growth and expand market reach. Cultivate relationships with high-value clients and key stakeholders, ensuring long-term partnerships and satisfaction. Use personal and professional networks to explore new opportunities and connect with potential partners or clients.
- Develop and oversee the sales strategy to ensure alignment with business development goals and revenue targets. Work with the finance and product teams to identify new revenue opportunities and diversify income sources. Establish clear revenue and partnership goals, and lead the team to meet or exceed these targets.
- Manage, mentor, and motivate a team of business development professionals, providing guidance to help them achieve their goals. Define KPIs and performance targets for the business development team, tracking and optimizing performance. Identify opportunities for training and development within the team to build skills and improve performance.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to align business development strategies with brand messaging and campaign efforts. Coordinate with product and operations teams to align product offerings with market demand and ensure smooth implementation of new partnerships. Work with the finance team to manage budgets, forecast revenue, and assess the financial impact of new initiatives.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to elevate brand presence and drive new business. Position the company as a leader in its field through innovative business practices, strategic partnerships, and thought leadership.
- Monitor KPIs, revenue, and client acquisition metrics to assess the success of business development efforts. Provide regular updates to senior leadership on performance against goals, key wins, and opportunities for improvement. Use data insights to continually improve business development processes, strategies, and performance outcomes.
- Stay up-to-date with industry innovations and assess how emerging trends could create new growth opportunities. Streamline and improve internal processes to increase efficiency and ensure the scalability of business development efforts.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Typically 8–10+ years in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or management role. In-depth knowledge of the company's industry, including key players, market trends, and client needs, to effectively shape business development strategies.
- A degree in business, marketing, finance, or a related field is generally required. An MBA or similar advanced degree may be preferred, especially for candidates targeting enterprise-level or complex markets.
- Ability to develop and implement long-term business growth strategies that align with company objectives. Strong analytical skills to assess market trends, evaluate competitor activities, and identify potential business opportunities. Understanding of financial metrics, budgeting, and revenue forecasting to set and manage growth targets effectively.
- Track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets, with skills in developing high-value partnerships and closing deals. Skilled in negotiating contracts, structuring complex deals, and creating mutually beneficial partnerships. Ability to engage in a consultative sales approach, understanding client needs and positioning the company’s solutions as optimal fits.
- Experience managing and mentoring business development teams, setting KPIs, and fostering a high-performance environment. Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate with marketing, product, operations, and finance teams to ensure alignment on growth goals. Skill in identifying and cultivating team members’ strengths, promoting professional growth, and encouraging team collaboration.
- Strong communication skills for articulating complex ideas, presenting business cases, and representing the company at public events. Ability to build and nurture relationships with clients, stakeholders, and partners, maintaining trust and fostering long-term loyalty. Skilled in influencing internal and external stakeholders to gain buy-in for strategic initiatives.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and other sales tools to track and manage opportunities. Deep understanding of the company’s products and services to position them effectively in the market and address customer needs. Comfort with digital marketing, analytics, and market research tools to support data-driven decisions.
