A Sales Engineer with SaaS experience selling CRM or Sales Enablement tools with experience at companies similar to Gong, Airtable, Zapier, Outreach, Salesloft or Apollo. Startup experience is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Gain in-depth knowledge of the company’s products and services, understanding their features, benefits, and technical specifications. Conduct technical presentations and demonstrations to potential clients, showcasing how the products can solve their specific problems. Work with clients to understand their technical requirements and design customized solutions that meet their needs.
- Provide technical support during the pre-sales process, assisting the sales team with technical inquiries and ensuring that all technical aspects are addressed. Collaborate with the sales team to develop comprehensive proposals and bids, ensuring that technical information is accurately represented. Engage with potential and existing customers to identify their needs, answer technical questions, and address any concerns they may have.
- Work closely with the product development, marketing, and sales teams to ensure that customer feedback and market insights are incorporated into product development and marketing strategies.
- Maintain regular communication with customers to provide updates, gather feedback, and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Provide training sessions for customers to ensure they understand how to effectively use the products and solutions provided. Educate and train the sales team on the technical aspects of the products, helping them to effectively communicate product benefits to potential customers.
- Assist customers with technical issues, providing troubleshooting support and ensuring that problems are resolved in a timely manner. Test new products and features before they are released to ensure they meet customer requirements and quality standards.
- Monitor and analyze competitors’ products and strategies, identifying opportunities and threats. Collect and analyze customer feedback to identify areas for product improvement and development.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, and troubleshooting guides. Generate reports on sales activities, customer interactions, and technical issues, providing insights and recommendations to the management team.
- Identify opportunities for improving the sales engineering process, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Keep up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to ensure that the company remains competitive and innovative.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, acting as a trusted technical advisor. Advocate for customers within the company, ensuring that their needs and concerns are addressed in product development and service delivery.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant field can be advantageous but is not usually mandatory.
- In-depth knowledge of the company's products and their applications. Strong technical skills in relevant areas, such as software engineering, network engineering, systems engineering, or another technical discipline. Ability to analyze technical requirements and design appropriate solutions. Strong problem-solving abilities to address technical issues and customer needs.
- Understanding of sales processes and techniques, with the ability to support the sales team effectively. Strong customer service skills and the ability to understand and anticipate customer needs.
- Excellent presentation skills to effectively demonstrate products and solutions to customers. Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with customers and internal teams. Ability to create clear and concise technical documentation and proposals.
- Several years of experience in a technical role, such as engineering, IT, or product development, is often required. Previous experience in a sales engineering or technical sales support role is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with the industry in which the company operates, including knowledge of competitors and market trends. Understanding of relevant industry regulations and standards.
- Understanding of relevant industry regulations and standards. Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities. Flexibility to adapt to changing customer needs and evolving product features.
- Sales-related certifications, such as Certified Sales Professional (CSP), can enhance credibility and effectiveness in the role.
